Supplementary benefits (LPC)
Cantonal and federal benefits intended to cover the basic needs of beneficiaries of an insufficient AVS or AI pension.

Supplementary benefits (PC) are granted to recipients of an AVS or AI pension whose income does not cover basic needs. Cumulative conditions :
- domicile and habitual residence in Switzerland;
- recipient of an AVS, AI or extraordinary pension;
- assets and income below the legal thresholds.
In Geneva, applications go to the Service des prestations complémentaires (SPC). PC can be combined with a partial AI pension and offset its insufficient character.
Important: PC are not taxable income but they enter the determining income for other social benefits.
